Dear Sir,

I wish to apply for the position of English teacher at your school. I am male and 24 years of age. I am an Indonesian citizen and still single. I graduated from Al-Azhar university in Egypt last year and I have a university degree.

Language is used to communicate with people in this world. The more we have languages, the more people we are able to communicate. Therefore, besides I have Indonesian and Arabic languages, I am also able to speak English. After I have finished learning English in Pare, I am interested in learning it deeper. I am eager to improve my ability in English since I realize that being an English teacher is a way to improve it. Wise words from my teacher I always remember are ‘no harm to try’ and ‘teach! By teaching, your English will be improved’. It does not mean that I will train your students if you receive me later on. Yet, I will afford as hard as possible to make English not become your students’ problem anymore while increasing my ability in English. With all my teaching techniques, I will proof that what I said above will be true and you will not be disappointed with me.

I have always been told that I have a pleasant personality. Being energetic and dynamic, I can get on very well with other people. The teachers at your school will not feel boring of me coming. Operating a computer is not something new since I know that ICT based learning is the highest level approach to teach the students.

I enclose all documents to be considered. I would be willing to take a series of test at any time. I am sure you will take my qualifications into consideration. I look forward to hearing from you soon.

My lovely bird is dead

John is a busy man and he has a lovely bird. He puts his bird in a cage. He hangs it in the window of his bed room. Although, he is busy whit his job, he can take care of his bird well. He really likes it. One day when he had an appointment with his client in Jakarta, he asked his sister to look after his bird.

John     : Jenifer, can you take care of my bird.

    I am going to Jakarta this morning and I will go home in the 

    afternoon.

Jenifer  : Yes, of course. I like a bird.

John     : Thank you, Jen.

John was relived because his sister could look after his bird. John went to Jakarta while Jenifer was taking care of his bird. When John went home in the afternoon, John asked Jenifer his bird.

John     : How’s my bird, Jen? Have you fed it.

Jenifer  : Yes, of course, I have. This morning I fed it.

John     : This morning? Just this morning?

Jenifer  : Yes, why? Is it not enough?

John     : No kidding! It’s 5 o’clock now. It will be hungry if you have not fed it yet. It needs to feed three times a day. But you feed it just once.

Jenifer  : Three times a day?

             I’m sorry my brother I do not know. I will feed it now.

John     : No, you should not feed it anymore. I will feed it myself.

John hurrily went to feed his bird.

John     : Oh, my God.

             Jenifer! Jenifer! Come here! Look at my bird! It is really weak.

             What a careless you are!

Jenifer  : I’m so sorry my brother.

John     : What did you say? ‘Sorry?’

             It’s too late. My bird has been dead. Now let me alone!

John was very upset knowing his bird dead. Jenifer went away. She ran and cried.

What is podcast?

A podcast is an audio file that anyone can create using computer, microphone, and software program. It is used to improve learners’ pronunciation. It is also used to hear the learners’ own pronunciation and judge the nativelikeness of their speech. It could offer opportunities for contextualizing tasks, while at the same time honing pronunciation.

How can podcasting be useful for learning languages?

The Benefits of Blogging for Learning English

a.   It can improve learners’ writing ability.

There are four skills that we have to master in learning English;
they are reading, speaking, listening and writing. To master all those skills, we have to be accustomed to practice. Blogging is one of the tools to improve our ability in English, especially in writing skill. Some English learners are difficult to write because they seldom practice writing. Others might be afraid of making mistakes in writing such as grammar, punctuation and so on. Moreover, when we are posting something in our blog, we will think much about the errors in it because it can be seen and commented by anyone. However, we do not need to think much about it. We will never be able to write if we always think about the errors in our writing. Our errors and the comments of our writing will improve our next writing.

b.  Enrich learners’ English vocabulary

When we are writing, we often do not know about certain vocabulary that we are going to write. We will look up our dictionary and find the vocabulary that we do not know. In this case, we are enriching our vocabulary. Fancy that if we are writing 20 postings in our blog and each posting has 10 new vocabularies. How many vocabularies that we will get after writing? How if we always keep writing something in our blog? Therefore, blogging can enrich our vocabulary.

How to get English

We realize that English that we are learning is not our first language. Therefore, we sometimes get trouble in understanding it. English has four skills; speaking, writing, reading and listening, which are always connected with three elements; grammar, vocabulary, and pronunciation. And the most important thing that the English learners should have is sights and experiences. Those are required by all of the English learners. Many English learners are difficult to master all of those things. We often find some students being able to speak fluently but they are lack of structures. They cannot arrange their sentences grammatically so that what they are speaking is difficult to understand. And many students are not confident to write because they are lack of vocabulary and grammar. Not only this but also we often find students not being able to understand it at all.

Rasau Jaya is one of Kubu Raya regency. It is wide enough and there are many inhabitants there. We can say Rasau Jaya is a developing place. They are interested in building buildings. There are many new buildings that we can see if we go there. They do not care much about how big their buildings are. They use those buildings variously. Some use them as the place to stay with family, some use them to store things, some use them to both stay and store things and some others use them as other functions such as school, English courses, Computer courses, Bank and so on. Those things make Rasau Jaya crowded.
